About the UK ::: North-West

The North West of England includes The Lake District, probably England’s most famous area of outstanding natural beauty – and has inspired writers and poets over the centuries from Shakespeare to Wordsworth.

The North West also has a number of large and exciting towns and cities such as Liverpool and Manchester. Both these cities are famed for their musical links. Bands from The Beatles to The Smiths, Oasis to Gerry and The Pace Makers have come from the area. As well as the music scene Liverpool and Manchester are renowned for their football teams and the vibrant nightlife that attracts so many young people to the area.

Another factor all cities and towns in the North West have in common is the tremendous warmth and friendliness of the people. Many visitors to the UK enjoy the North West more than any other part because of the way visitors are so readily accepted by locals.
